Can-celling food waste, one tin at a time.

The CAN-paign – Zero Waste Scotland

The Brief

Build and execute a show-stopping social media and PR campaign which offers inspirational but practical cost-cutting advice amid rising consumer concerns over the cost of living crisis.

The Outcome

A 2 part activation, the CAN-Paign urges the nation to take a fresh look at tinned food in a bid to save money - and the planet. From transforming some of the most common tinned products into tasty recipes, to calling out canned credentials, to tin-spiration highlighting the unexpected versatility of these storecupboard staples, the show-stopping (pun-packed) campaign lifts the lid on how we can can-cel food waste, one tin at a time.

A highlight is the trio of delicious hero recipes, developed using core tinned products and styled to be aspirational and editorial, making tinned the talk of the table and tackling common conceptions of being unglamourous and unapetising.

Alongside social content, a partnership with (tin)fluencer and chef Julie Lin saw ‘Julie’s Can-teen' roadshow hit major cities across Scotland, serving up more specially developed tinned meals for free from a converted retro airstream, complete with canteen-inspired branding and decor, and any leftovers donated to food stations across the country.
